STUDENT GRADING SYSTEM/EVALUATION GRADES 1-3: REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 400 POINTS
Minimum of (3) 100 points; the remainder of the grades will be accumulated from but not limited to the following: projects, quizzes, journals, etc.
Homework grades must not exceed 30 pts. per 9-week grading period.
Science (Grades 1 & 2) – incorporated across the curriculum
GRADES 4-8: REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 500 POINTS PER GRADING PERIOD

Last 9-week Grading Period – (2) 100-point tests and 200 points from projects, quizzes, journals, etc.
Homework grades must not exceed 30 pts. per 9-week grading period.
GRADES 9-12: REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 600 POINTS PER GRADING PERIOD As a result of the variation in rigor and depth of content, grades 9 – 12 will be assigned a minimum of 600 points per 9-week grading period with (4) 100-point tests, which will include but not limited to PE classes. Points assigned for homework and classwork are not to exceed 100 points for each grading period. Each nine weeks is worth 20% of the final grade with midterm and final exams worth 10%. The midterm is averaged by adding the 1st nine weeks, 2nd nine weeks and midterm together, then divide by 3.Adjustments may also be made for grading due to extenuating circumstances such as revisions of bell schedules, re-teaching of lessons, etc. Students’ assessments will be graded and returned to students within 3 days of completion. Once students have submitted projects, research papers, portfolios, etc. by the due date, teachers have 5 days to grade all of the assigned material.
PARTICIPATION GRADES In the event a portion of a high school student’s grade for a course is based on his/her participation in the class, this grade will be based on the following:
PE– students will earn a grade each day for participation in the assigned activities/sports
Other Courses– student participation may be determined including but not limited to a child’s contribution to a partner/group activity or project used as an assessment of the student’s level of comprehension.
WEEKLY ASSESSMENT POLICY Students may be assigned tests on Mondays but are not to be given more than 2 tests per day. HOMEWORK Homework assignments are given at the discretion of the teacher. Homework aids the learning process while assisting students in the development of self-discipline through effective time management. Compliance is mandatory for all student assignments. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain assignments when absent. Teachers may post assignments on the board in their classrooms and/or on Renweb.
Final Exam Exemption Privilege Students in grades 9-12 who accomplish the following will be exempt from the final exam of the specified course(s):
maintain an A average in the course(s) for all four grading periods and a minimum of a B grade on the mid-term exam or
receive the honor of placing in the top 2 in a specific course at the District Literary and participating at the State Literary Rally at LSU.
