Catholic Formation, Academic Rigor,
Leadership and Service
The Diocese of Lafayette encourages all students to read every day during the summer. Reading is the biggest factor in a student’s overall academic success. Students who read more do better in school. Our goal at Sacred Heart School is for every student to become an avid reader and develop a love for reading. Students should be able to reach that goal by reading a minimum of 30 minutes daily. 4th—12th grade students are required to read a novel during the summer break for their English classes. Students will be assigned a teacher-made assessment and various assignments during the 1st grading period on the book read from the Summer Reading list. 12th-grade students will also be assessed on the novel assigned for their World History class.
