The Diocese of Lafayette encourages all students to read every day during the summer. Reading is the biggest factor in a student’s overall academic success. Students who read more do better in school. Our goal at Sacred Heart School is for every student to become an avid reader and to develop a love for reading. Students should be able to reach that goal by reading a minimum of 30 minutes daily. 4th—12th grade students are required to read a novel during the summer break for their English classes. Students will be assigned a teacher-made assessment and various assignments during the 1st grading period on the book read from the Summer Reading list. 12th grade students will also be assessed on the novel assigned for their World History class.
